THIS IS YOUR JOB

As Engineering Manager Platform, you will own the platform function end-to-end: the operating model, internal developer platform, platform investments, team, and outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will combine people management with active technical contribution to platform architecture, automation, and engineering excellence. You will lead a team of Platform Engineers and SREs (3–4 FTE), working closely with Product, Engineering, Security, and Architecture to enable high-performing software teams across Effectory.

Our ambition is to build a world-class engineering platform that enables teams to deliver software faster, more reliable, and more securely. You will shape the vision, strategy, and roadmap for our Internal Developer Platform (IDP), creating an environment where developers can focus on delivering customer value while platform capabilities provide scalability, reliability, security, and operational excellence by default.

In this role, you will report directly to the CTO

What you’ll be doing:

Platform strategy & developer experience

  • Define and own the platform engineering strategy and 12-month roadmap, aligned with company objectives and engineering priorities.

  • Drive the evolution of our Internal Developer Platform, making infrastructure, deployment, observability, and security capabilities available through self-service experiences.

  • Continuously improve developer experience by reducing friction, increasing engineering productivity, and simplifying operational tasks.

  • Establish platform standards, golden paths, and engineering practices that promote consistency across teams.

  • Partner with engineering leadership to identify opportunities for platform investments that increase delivery speed, reliability, and quality.

Reliability, operations & cloud infrastructure

  • Own the reliability, availability, and operational excellence of our cloud-native platform.

  • Lead improvements in observability, incident management, resilience, disaster recovery, and service reliability practices.

  • Drive infrastructure modernization initiatives across Azure, Kubernetes, networking, and platform services.

  • Ensure infrastructure and platform services can scale efficiently with business growth and product demands.

  • Champion automation-first approaches to operations and platform management.

Security, compliance & governance

  • Collaborate closely with the CISO to embed security, compliance, and identity management into platform capabilities and engineering workflows.

  • Ensure platform services meet enterprise-grade security and governance requirements.

  • Drive adoption of secure-by-default engineering practices, automated controls, and policy enforcement.

  • Contribute to platform and infrastructure decisions that support Effectory's security and compliance objectives.

Engineering leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Platform Engineers and Site Reliability Engineers.

  • Create a high-performance engineering culture focused on ownership, continuous improvement, learning, and operational excellence.

  • Set clear goals, priorities, and success metrics for the platform team.

  • Support hiring, onboarding, career development, and performance management within the team.

  • Build strong partnerships with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and stakeholders across the business.

Architecture & AI-enabled engineering

  • Provide technical leadership on cloud-native architecture, platform design, and engineering enablement.

  • Guide decisions around Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, container platforms, and platform automation.

  • Set the standard for how platform teams leverage AI, automation, and modern engineering tooling to improve productivity and operational efficiency.

  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive operational work and improve platform self-service capabilities.

Hands on platform engineering & technical contribution

  • Act as a senior hands-on contributor within the platform team, regularly participating in the design, implementation, and operation of platform capabilities.

  • Lead by example through direct involvement in platform engineering work, including Infrastructure as Code, cloud architecture, automation, CI/CD, observability, and reliability improvements.

  • Maintain sufficient technical depth and platform expertise to coach engineers effectively and make informed technology decisions.

THIS IS YOU

  • 10+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, or related disciplines.

  • At least 3 years of experience in an engineering leadership or management role.

  • Strong experience designing and operating cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure.

  • A solid background in .NET and modern software development practices.

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform and/or Bicep.

  • You enjoy combining engineering leadership with hands-on technical work and are comfortable contributing directly to platform engineering initiatives when needed.

Additionally, you’ll have:

  • You’re a strong people leader who builds clarity, accountability, and momentum in technical teams. You’re able to set direction, coach engineers and analysts, and create the conditions for high-quality delivery.

  • You have experience operating in ambiguous, fast-growing environments where ownership is unclear and priorities shift

  • An energetic, pragmatic, and results-oriented personality with a bias for action.

  • Privacy and security are essential in our business. You understand what it takes to create highly flexible insights while safeguarding individuals' privacy and meet enterprise security requirements.

  • You’re fluent in English
